It has been two week since Splatoon was released for the Wii U. I feel like I have officially played enough to form a strong opinion of this game; I also have played all the many parts and am going to post a review on each of them.

The bulk of the Splatoon gameplay is online play. I personally really enjoy this part of the game. The game mode for regular online is turf war, this means paint everywhere ’cause that’s where your points come from.

The way a match works is a team starts on each side of a map and then you have 3 minutes to paint everything. While there are a few advantages to “splatting” an opponent, it shouldn’t be your main goal.

The way the stage is determined is two stages are picked at random from the 7 available; These stages change every two hours. Then from there one of the two is randomly selected for your match. Take advantage of the knowledge of the stages when you choose your weapons class.

Purchasable gear changes every day and a new weapons class is unlocked every level. You will need to play regular online until you are up to level 10 if you want to play ranked.
